A deal has been brokered between Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that will allow Clinton's name to be placed in nomination at next week's Democratic nominating convention.
Party unity????

... and if she get selected as the nominee, what will happen? Is he just allowing it as a token, knowing that it won't amount to much? They won't have much party unity if Obama gets outvoted.

The people voting have already been told who to vote for by the primary process. As the clinching vote getter Obama is also expected to get votes from delegates originally promised to Clinton.
There is no way he loses it at the convention unless Clinton stabs him in the back and a ton of delegates betray their states/counties. If that occurs then the Democratic party will be in such disharmony Clinton would lose anyway.
That being said I think this was a pretty lame move for the Obama campaign to allow. Makes Obama look weak and doesn't accomplish the proposed goal IMO.

Delegates to the convention do not have to vote for the candidate they were elected to vote for. If the delegates do stick to their votes we will all see how close the numbers are and that whoever wins is being selected by the Superdelegates and not the primary voters.
A lot can happen in a few days. Obama is not doing as well in the polls as he should be at this point in the election cycle. He also failed to live up to his side of the agreement to help retire Hillary's campaign debts.
Don't count Hillary out yet...

There are no parties
There are no voters
There are no elections
The only thing that is legitimate about our democracy is that it is not.
The Clinton's have proven themselves remarkably petty and w/o redeeming qualities (as if some of us were not aware of this already, given their ties to the Iran/Contra CIA-drug-running power cabals of the 80s-today.). It is time for someone else to have the opportunity to prove themselves a disappointment.

okay so this isn't that bad. Obama will clearly win. The good thing about this is that supporters of Clinton will get to vote for her and when she inevitably loses to Obama they will still stick with the democratic nominee and not switch over to McCain. (this explained to me by my co-worker)

What an absolute bulls**t waste of time and, more essentially, money.
How much did they spend on their ridiculous competition?
Did you know it would cost only $4bn to put every child in Africa into education?
The US spends around $54bn per year on military and defence.
