Conservatives have been trying to frighten investors about the prospects of a Barack Obama presidency.

Wall Street however, disagrees, and is donating more to Obama’s campaign than to the campaign of Sen. John McCain

Considering that the current "Conservative" president has been BURNING money by raging 2 wars, costing about a trillion dollars, and the next "conservative" candidate wants to continue said wars, I think these "conservatives" should STFU.

Bush is *not* conservative. Neither is McCain.

That being said, it is estimated that Obama will raise the budget by over $1 Billion more than Bush already has.

We're screwed either way.

Is this extra 1 billion to be used to build up this country's infratsructure and help our needy, or is it to be used to attempt build yet another nation?



And I agree, there hasn't been a conservative Republican in the oval office for my entire voting life.


It might be interesting to list the characteristics of a true conservative as opposed to a neo-con playing to the evangelicals and other special (waring) interests.

We have plenty of money going to the needy/infrastructures if we used it correctly. We have an almost $10 Trillion debt that we need to start paying off immediately or else we're going to send this country into a quick spiral downwards.

The neo-cons have conservative social values but liberal social policies (I'll explain in a sec) and conservative economic policies. When I say conservative policies I mean small government. By this I mean that they tell you what to do with your body, not with your money. That is a neo-con.

A true conservative has conservative social values, AND conservative social policies, AND conservative economic policies. Ron Paul is a good example of this. Barry Goldwater is another. Ronald Reagan was before he stepped into office. These people are not war mongers.

What most people look for are the *results* instead of the process, and that screws up our country. Example: gay marriage. It shouldn't be a federal mandate (hello Federal Marriage Protection Act), but a state decision. Abortion: same way. Death Penalty: same way. The neo-cons focus on the results (criminalized abortion, no gay marriage..liberal policies, conservative values) where the true conservatives focus on process (let the states decide..conservative policies, conservative values.)

Is the current president (focus on dent:) considered a neo-con or just a con. By that I mean the astronomical increase in the size and spending of his government? Or is he a "place moniker here" in name only?


I guess I'm ready to get past labels (red/blue lib/con/neo-con). I'm ready for anybody that has the welfare of the country in mind and not just their party or special interest groups.

I agree that states should make their own policies in the areas you described. Such as when (and I forget the actual states) the feds told(was it Calif?) that they could not legalize medicinal marijuana, or (Oregon?) they could not legalize doctor assisted suicide.

Exactly. Those are not federal areas according to the constitution.
