"We wish to inform these new arrivals that the way of life which they abandoned when they left their countries of origin cannot be recreated here..."
Oh thank God someone finally said it! And this from the very tollerent Canadians. I wish someone in the US government would propose this idea. I'm not against tradition but some stuff, in public, just goes too far.

I'm really trying to figure out the purpose of this document though.

I'm all for assisting immigrants with integration, but this seems to just play on stereotypes. Do they really believe that new immigrants would stone women in public? Has there been a deluge of people in hospital from acid burns to the face?

We would especially like to inform the new arrivals that the lifestyle that they left behind in their birth country cannot be brought here with them and they would have to adapt to their new social identity.
I think that quote pretty much sums it up.

I think a good balance can be made, but I think this is about as bad as the political correct madness on the other side of the fence.

The case of Hérouxville is just a poor reaction to a public debate in Quebec, what we newly called the raisonnable compromise. This debate was born after some cultural diversities have ask too much. With only 1 300 residents, and perhaps 2 or 3 minorities, the town council of Hérouxville do not seems to have a lot of work, beside finding a way to put the town on the map
