Drugs, told her the truth about how I smoked my lunch for two years in High School. I knew the exact reasons she did not want to start playing around with drugs. I was not some hypocrite that would only do the whole 'just say no' thing and then shut my mouth. You have to back up those sort of things with facts and truth.<br/><br/>Anything my child asked about or needed to learn, she was told the f**kING truth. When she was sixteen she came to me and said she thinks it is time to be on birth control, she thought she was ready to start having sex. Guess what, off to the doctor we went and she got on the pill. Why? Because we told her the truth and simply asked her to do the same with us.<br/><br/>I am sick and tired of hearing these parents that try to sugarcoat life instead of being open and honest with their children.  Your children deserve to be given the same respect you want from them and showing them you trust them will let them know you do respect them, it makes a difference.<br/><br/>If you have a true relationship with your kids, you will see the signs of depression, you will know when they need your help and when they need you to let them fail on their own.
