I happen to very much like My Chemical Romance, and am in no way emo, but none of their songs has ever made me want to go and off myself. Again, underlying problem much??

In the 80's it was Heavy Metal, they went as far as taking Judas Priest to court for causing to kids to commit suicide.

There will always be something for parents to blame their own lack of PARENTING for damn near anything and everything.

When my daughter started to be a cutter, I talked to her and discussed why I used to burn/hurt myself. Drugs, told her the truth about how I smoked my lunch for two years in High School. I knew the exact reasons she did not want to start playing around with drugs. I was not some hypocrite that would only do the whole 'just say no' thing and then shut my mouth. You have to back up those sort of things with facts and truth.

Anything my child asked about or needed to learn, she was told the f**kING truth. When she was sixteen she came to me and said she thinks it is time to be on birth control, she thought she was ready to start having sex. Guess what, off to the doctor we went and she got on the pill. Why? Because we told her the truth and simply asked her to do the same with us.

I am sick and tired of hearing these parents that try to sugarcoat life instead of being open and honest with their children. Your children deserve to be given the same respect you want from them and showing them you trust them will let them know you do respect them, it makes a difference.

If you have a true relationship with your kids, you will see the signs of depression, you will know when they need your help and when they need you to let them fail on their own. Turning around and blaming some current fad for anything such as suicide is doing no honor to your child.

That is a step above mine, I have been dating my bf for 3 years, I just turned 21, and they wouldn't stop freaking out when I told them I was going on a vacation with no one but my boyfriend.

I still don't feel comfortable saying the word sex around them lol.

Yeah I've known some really happy goth and they were the old stereotypical suicide commiters. I would figure its similar with Emo kids.....although I know a former one who committed suicide a few times, but that was due to his personal problems.

Honestly, all the teenagers I know that are truly depressed and suicidal seem to be those you wouldn't expect. I know this from experience, so it strikes me horrible that people would assume that depression and suicide follows a fad. You know what it follows? An overstressed society that just doesn't give a f**k about anyone that's in a recession because of an unfounded war because of a stupid president. Hah, I can link ANYTHING to that man.

I don't think it was "Emo" either. Look at the article again. Look at her picture before she was EMO, she looks so sad. She was in trouble long before I think. But then, maybe she was having a bad day that day. She just looks too sad in both pictures. Too much sadness for a little girl.

I understand the fascination with death, especially at an age where you typically start to think you're invincible, but I don't understand the glorification of death.
