An atheist has won the right to have his baptism removed from Church of England records after claiming he was too young to give his consent to the ceremony. John Hunt was baptized at the age of five months at the parish church of St Jude with St Aidin in Thornton Heath, south London. picked by bingo 7 months ago 38 comments edit related share plime.com |
What’s wrong with killing babies? I see no problem with it. I have enough mouths to feed. I don’t get the argument and I am an atheist. Since I don’t believe in God, I don’t believe in anything characterized as good, bad / right, wrong. So, what’s the big deal? Who would say such a horrible thing? Atheism is often portrayed in America's very religious culture as a whiny, nitpicky, unpatriotic opponent. Hemant Mehta (friendlyatheist.com) offered that for every $10 bid on himself, he would attend church for one day, and wrote a book about his experience. What he did is quite diplomatic, and brings atheism into the spotlight when other news pundits think atheists should sit down and shut up. picked by VooDooPeacock 3 years ago 4 comments edit related share plime.com |

I have written elsewhere that The God Delusion makes me ashamed to be an atheist. Let me say that again. Let me say also that I am proud to be the focus of the invective of the new atheists. They are a bloody disaster and I want to be on the front line of those who say so. picked by JoshSF49 3 months ago 3 comments edit related share plime.com |
Everyone is familiar with glurge, emails of sickly-sweet, supposedly true stories with "uplifting" moral messages. The folks at Straight Dope try their hand at glurge as it would be written by people who don't believe in transcendental lessons. picked by VooDooPeacock 2 years ago 0 comments edit related share plime.com |

On Friday nights I had to be in bed by 10 pm. My mother would tuck me in, turn off the light, and close the door. I would lie under the covers until I heard her settled back into the living room. Then I would slide out of bed, tiptoe to the door, and quietly turn the lock. picked by bornbad 4 months ago 2 comments edit related share entertainment |
