In an article not entirely unsurprisingly published yesterday*, New York scientists have an announced their discovery that the human brain makes proteins that act in a similar way to marijuana. Amongst other things, this would explain why we have marijuana receptors in the first place.

Emery has agreed to plead guilty in Seattle to one count of marijuana distribution in exchange for dismissal of all other counts, and the U.S. District Attorney is pressing for a sentence of five to eight years in a U.S. prison.
