I'd like to attend a few of their upcoming church protests...
Please help me decide (without violence) what would be the most damaging/inciteful/nasty thing to do to them.
I've considered the following.
1. I'm a photographer, so of course I have considered photographing the protests, and not just as a wide angle newspaper scene stuff. I'm talking EXTREME close ups with telephoto lenses to expose their obvious inbreeding and affects of fetal alcohol syndrome.
2. I'm pretty handy with a video camera, video-ing the whole thing and posting it to youtube emphasizing how lame they are.
3. Going down to the pink hippo and getting a bunch of good ole girls to come prance around in drag (and video tape it).
4. Finding a gay or openminded minister to counter preach the gospel of love and tolerance taught by Jesus (and video it)
5. Get a bunch of Jewish friends to counter protest to expose them for what they really are...anti-semites.
6. Some other idea gleened from the Plime Mind.
I'm going to go to one, I'd like to do something that will make a difference.
Thursday they are protesting the US Naval Academy which I think is a bad idea for them...I grew up in and around Annapolis and the Department of the Navy holds a lot of influence over local police. I have a feeling even with the proper permits secured they will find themselves in jail if they don't disperse immediately...the Navy handles those gates like a big dog handles his yard, and the neighbor's yard, and the yard across the street, if your close, your too close.
... Or, you could just ignore them. Any kind of attention is not only likely to encourage them, but may escalate into a violent encounter. Better to just make them completely irrelevant by totally ignoring them.
I don't have any stance on this, but I'm just curious as to what compels you to do something like that. Why not just let them be? You're only going to egg them on which will probably get them some sort of exposure, which is most likely exactly what they want.

They are getting a BUTT-load of exposure already with news crews covering all the protested churches including interviews with parishioners and exchanges (all peaceful but some heated) between the WBC and local residents. Me not going isn't going to keep the news crews away. So far as escalating to violence, I don't think anyone is going to commit any against them. If they are incited to it then they better watch where they throw down, they have protests scheduled in some of THE roughest innercity neighborhoods in Bodymore Murdaland. I want to make their lives unpleasant in the worst way, and while I like the NAMBLA idea I don't want to be the person who ends up on TV with the NAMBLA sign.

Those a-holes were at my son's high school graduation. My son was valedictorian. There was some talk about mentioning them but he decided to just ignore them. They were kept 200 yards away from the school by the police. They got on TV news and newspapers. A few people threw things at them. I totally understand your feelings, then I think the more these hillbillies are ignored the better.
People in Wyoming did this when they protested at Matthew Shepard's funeral. The angel wings were 10 feet high and blocked Westboro's signs from being seen.
Since they are making such a disgusting habit out of protesting soldier's funerals lately, I think some gigantic American flags to surround them and block out their signs would be quite fitting.
The gay priest/minister sounds like a good idea - explain that Jesus' gospel of tolerance is nothing like what they're doing. They do need to see that all they do is stir people up and detract from many people's opinion of Christians in general.
Where do you live, blurmore? The Westboro church is about 30 miles from my town. We've come to ignore them, which, I think, it the thing to do. They feed on attention; starve them.
We all hate them and no one takes them seriously other than themselves (they're all related), so don't worry about them recruiting anyone.
