You've seen the following posts:

The movie linked/discussed above was inspired in part on the work of Acharya S, the pen name of D. M. Murdock, a proponent of the Jesus myth hypothesis. She has authored three books and operates a website named Truth be Known. She believes religions are founded on earlier myths, and the characters depicted in Christianity, especially, are plagiarized of Roman myths.

Now you can read the book,

The Christ Conspiracy: The Greatest Story Ever Sold
Controversial and explosive, The Christ Conspiracy marshals an enormous amount of startling evidence that the religion of Christianity and Jesus Christ were created by members of various secret societies, mystery schools and religions in order to unify the Roman Empire under one state religion! This powerful book maintains that these groups drew upon a multitude of myths and rituals that already existed long before the Christian era and reworked them into the story the Christian religion presents today-known to most Westerners as the Bible. Author Acharya makes the case that there was no actual person named Jesus, but that several characters were rolled into one mythic being inspired by the deities Mithras, Heracles/Hercules, Dionysus and many others of the Roman Empire. She demonstrates that the story of Jesus, as portrayed in the Gospels, is nearly identical in detail to those of the earlier savior-gods Krishna and Horus, and concludes that Jesus was certainly neither original nor unique, nor was he the divine revelation. Rather, he represents the very ancient body of knowledge derived from celestial observation and natural forces. A book that will initiate heated debate and inner struggle, it is intelligently written and referenced. The only book of its kind, it is destined for controversy.

That basic idea - that christianity draws elements from earlier traditions - is not disputed even by "true believing" historians of the catholic church itself. It's hardly a conspiracy, it's just not widely known.

Uh, because there were two threads and a article on the front page that was inspired by this book.

That indicated that others might be interested in this.

Agreed. I think this is one of the first things you get taught in Religion 101.

It just struck me funny that you started a discussion thread about something that you had not read or seen. And provided links for others to obtain the text, even though you haven't read it. Just seemed strange to me, that's all.

? Why is that strange?
If I was to voice an opinion without reading it, then yes it would be strange.

All I did was see that there was a lot of discussion going on about a subject and had a link to something that those who found the movie interesting might like to read.

It is sharing a link that others might want, why is that odd.

I posted a link to 33 photoshop tutorials the other day. I didn't try out all 33 tutorials before posting the link. No, I thought others might be interested in it and decided to share it.

Nothing odd at all.

I posted it to the forum instead of the front page because the book is copyrighted and didn't want it quite so blatantly out there via rss.

Jesus told me he read the book and watched the movie. He thought it was entertaining, but they missed some things.

He did say the book was better.
