if your studying biology as profession in life, it seems that you must accept evolution otherwise your religion will be a conflict of interest to your job. picked by hoimaha 9 months ago

I felt pretty deity-ee when I brought my sea monkeys to life. :)

...where were we again?

Oh yeah.

Dude has only been there 8 months. I would be curious to see what other positions he's held. Sounds like an angle to me.

« 1thirteen3 : Evolution is not a testable theory, nor is creationism.
You're right about creationism. However, evolution is most definitely a testable theory and has been tested plenty of times by plenty of different people. Google it.

« ReBoot : Perhaps I'm wrong, but I've always thought the theory of evolution and Biblical creationism belong to two separate, contradictory, and completely incompatible belief systems. The two simply cannot be merged.
They absolutely can be merged from what I see. The Bible says that God created man from the dust of the Earth. It does not say what method was used to get the man to sentience, or in what form he was originally.

And the whole day one, day two thing is irrelevant as well. When you are an infinite being, one day can mean any length of time from a microsecond to 47 billion years. It just means a period of time passed.

And He made us in His image - I see that as meaning that God gave us the power and gift of free will, which no other entity has.

Well said Moe. I agree 100%

« Moe : IF this were literally true, he might have a legal leg to stand on...it is a well known FACT that the THEORY of Evolution is just that...a THEORY. If they had required him to accept it as fact, they would be guilty of scientific fraud.

But, I kind of doubt that is how it shook out. IMO, he is probably trying to get a cash out using a hot seat issue.

I am a Christian and I have no problem whatsoever with the theory of evolution. Heck I have no problem with it as a fact even. It is just not provable as a solid fact. But do I believe that is how we came to be? Absolutely. Guided by God's hand. Who says God cannot use the laws of physics and biology to do what He wants? After all, He INVENTED them!
I seem to agree with this view more or less. The pope even endorses the theory of evolution. I wish I had a link for this but he basically says that though one might know how life arose, there still lies the question of where this all came from.
