The Effects of the Religious Right on Politics and on Religion Posted: 5 months ago by 2manyusernames
Who would deny that the ascendancy of the religious right has been bad for the U.S.? Its destructive consequences are plain to see. It has polarized the nation. It has made America a laughingstock in the eyes of the educated of the world. And it has encouraged devout believers to think of themselves as agents of the divine, and their political opponents as enemies of God.
Besides the political damage, religion itself has been damaged.

Person Who Refused To Certify Gay Marriages Due To Her Strict Religion - Not So Religious Posted: 3 months ago by 2manyusernames
Lilian Ladele, the bigoted registrar won a lawsuit against Islington Council when they punished her for not performing her duties. She claimed that her strict religious beliefs superseded the will of the law and her employer. It has recently been discovered that she had a baby out of wedlock. I guess her strict religious beliefs only matter when it suits her.

Religion is bullshit Posted: 9 months ago by 2manyusernames
Hey, it's the name of the site!
"If we believe absurdities, we shall commit atrocities" -- Voltaire (1694-1778)
Throughout history, religion has been responsible for a large proportion of the suffering in the world - yet religious beliefs are based in ancient myths and legends that should have been discarded centuries ago.
The purpose of this site is to point out the errors in religious texts and highlight the problems caused by religious believers in society today.

The Big Religion Chart Posted: 8 months ago by 2manyusernames
The ReligionFacts "Big Religion Chart" is an attempt to summarize all the complexities of religions and belief systems into tiny little boxes on a single, quick-reference comparison chart. Yes, of course this is impossible. As we always warn with our comparison charts, this is no substitute for reading about religions in greater detail, talking with religious adherents, etc. But this religion comparison chart can (hopefully) be a useful and accessible way to "get the gist" of some unfamiliar groups and compare basic beliefs and practices of the world's religions and belief systems.

Einstein's view of religion revised Posted: 5 months ago by pocksucket
It has long been assumed that Albert Einstein weighted science and religion equally, but a letter written by him in 1954 may well revise that.
Describing god as the expression and product of human weakness and the bible as a collection of primitive legends does not sit well with the previously held assumption that he weighted science and religious belief in equal regard.
An abridged version of the letter, which is due to be auctioned on Thursday, can be read here

Religious Test For Muslim Congressman? Posted: 2 years ago by T3ND3R
First Muslim elected to congress facing criticism for wanting to have a picture taken of him being "sworn in" with his hand on the Koran
the reason i put "sworn in" in quotes is because the picture is taken after being officially sworn in. so placing his hand on the Koran for the picture is just for media use and carries no official merit.
the link is a commentary so here is a news story on it as well
