Mythbusters folded 11 times. It was a HUGE "piece" of paper the size of a football field (or close to that). They used a forklift to do the last folds and a roller to flatten it between folds.

I've tried this and never succeeded. I wish it actually showed how big her piece of paper was. As larknet said, Mythbusters got to 11 folds, but that was a massive piece of paper.
