Presumed Consent For Organ Donation Coming
Presumed Consent For Organ Donation Coming
Possibly inspired* by Punthe's forum thread of two days ago, Gordon Brown today announced plans to reform the organ donation process including adopting the presumption that all organs can be harvested unless expressly stated.

Other then religious beliefs I really cant see any reason why you shouldn't be an Organ Donor.

Help save a life.

You know ? It doesn't work.
A similar system is in place here in Holland, and still most people will take the effort for the official statement not to be a organ donor.

Opting out could be quite easy; I imagine one could wear a bracelet or something stating one does not wish for ones organs to be recycled.

I think that this is a great idea as it will give the gift of life to so many people who need it.

Actually it works and it works quite well.

Spain has an opt-opt system and their organ donation is 2 1/2 times that of England.

Many many many people won't take the effort one way or the other, this way if they don't make an effort they will be organ donors.

At the moment in the UK even if you carry a donor card they still have to have permission from your next of kin as to whether they can have anything.

That's what ER doctors call motorcycle riders:

Organ donors.

That system would work well in Fl. We have lots of bikers biting the dust lately.

Really? I don't know much about the subject, but I would think there would be a lot of internal damage.

When a motorcyclist goes down at speed they generally slide. This sliding along the asphalt acts like a grater wearing through the bikers clothing then skin then eventually bone. Most of the damage that is done is to the extremities, hands, knees, buttocks. A lot of the time the trauma suffered is enough to kill them leaving all the internals intact and ripe for transplant.
