The biggest prime number Posted: 2 years ago by TheStep
With its 9,808,358 digits, this number is the biggest prime yet found by very bored mathematicians. It is 2^32,582,657 -1 and the number itself is probably larger than the number of sub-atomic particles in the Universe.

I wonder if the boy who discovered this has ever gotten laid.

I have friends who would so get turned on by his big geeky head.

actually, they would probably drool at the kick-ass supercomputing rig that is needed to calculate these Mersenne primes.
more info here:

personally, I'm expecting the next mersenne prime to be found within the next 3-5 months.

(I build custom performance rigs and use Prime 95 to do torture tests and benchmarking)

nooo, i'm already an engineering major (although ORFE, but w/e), so I'm trying to fit some non-engineering friends into my otherwise science-filled life. although I wouldn't mind someone with a supercomputer of his own:

Woah, it's weird seeing one of my personal projects used as a theme pic. It's eerie.

It was an abandoned house that people stayed in from time to time (squat house). I spray painted the numbers all over this one room because I thought it made it kinda crazy. (This was when I was seventeen)

I don't know. I just spraypainted it and left it to do its thing.
