Blood Swapping Reanimates Dead Dogs
Blood Swapping Reanimates Dead Dogs
"In a series of nightmarish experiments straight out of a horror flick, scientists at a leading university have killed dozens of dogs — then brought them back to life.

The hapless pooches, who have their blood drained for up to three hours, are being reanimated in a bid to develop the use of suspended animation to help humans who are injured in combat or crime."

Not so unusual, though...the Russians/Soviets (not to mention loads of others) were doing a lot of things like this in the past century...

two-headed dogs, resuscitation, etc...

I think Plime had the link to an article about some of those experiments, and there is a book or two on them...I will find the link and post it here later.

Also...isn't this essentially what has kept KeithRichards alive for a good bit?

What's the matter with these people? Haven't they seen Flatliners.

But in all seriousness, I can't see where the negative reaction to this research comes from except as a knee-jerk "awww 'ou can't hurt vuh ickle-wickle doggywoggies."

They'd be unconscious throughout and experience no suffering. If completed, it will give us a huge understanding about what death means and potentially save huge numbers of lives, human and animal.

A simple and obvious practical application would be to "freeze" accident victims at the scene, increasing their chances of survival.

It may also mean that surgery could be performed without the need for dangerous anaesthetic drugs - kill the patient first, operate and then bring them back to life when the danger is over.
