Rare Gene Mutation Plays Role in Longevity
Rare Gene Mutation Plays Role in Longevity
A rare gene mutation that restricts a particular growth factor may be one of the keys to living to 100 and beyond, a new study suggests.

This mutation, which seems to decrease the activity of insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), results in short stature but longer life. picked by AutumnLotus 6 months ago

I think my grandma has it. She is going on 94 yrs old, still can get around, never complains of pain or anything and the ONLY medication she is on is Nitroglycerin paste to dialate her arteries as she has some blockage and surgery is not an option at her age. And she can't hear worth a damn...but it lends for some giggles when she talks as she doesn't hear of topic changes....and we have shifted gears already.

She is AMAZING. Sharp at as a whip.

I hope I inherit that gene.

She eats alot of hot dogs. I wonder if that helps, too?
