There's either a gap in this story or the parents are not taking any responsibility here. I'm missing something.

I was thinking the same thing. My 8yo would eat whether I had to force it down her throat. (yes, im mean for wanting my child to actually live).

The child needed to be seeing a shrink, having weekly med visits..etc. The parents didn't seem to advocate for their child and demand care/treatment...they just let her get so bad to die. (at least, thats all i can guess from the article)

Very very sad.

It is really strange; she looks exactly like the sister of a friend of mine. Like EXACTLY. It's a little disturbing..

The more I read the article, the more I thought..."You want answers!?" I am so sorry this little girl died, but intervention would have been the prevention. It is a tragic event indeed. But if they want answers, I suggest they look in the mirror.

The parents want to know why she died? Wasn't it obvious? If you don't feed your body, it will find a way to feed off of itself. I agree, there are a lot of holes in this story. The parents are in denial that they had some part in their own daughters death.

An inquest???!?!?!?!

I think it would lead to the arrest of the parents!

Hmm, my kid hasn't eaten in days. I wonder what I should do?

Too bad the kid got the brunt of the Darwinism in this case.... She was adorable.

It's called a feeding tube. Had the parents sought medical care, she surely would have gotten one before starving to death.

Ah, you beat me to it. After reading the headline and blurb, my immediate reaction was, "sounds like this kid's up for a Darwin award." And after reading the article, I'm wondering how her parents have managed to survive this long...

Doctors decided to remove all her milk teeth in one go, to avoid a repeat of the procedure, but afterwards she still would not open her mouth and had to be fed through a tube.
If you don't eat, you die. Just one of those unfortunate facts of life. So there's no question about the fact the parents f**ked up big time, but....

why the heck did her doctors decide it would be better to remove all her teeth instead of calling a shrink?!

You can't live off watermelon!!! It's all water! Why the heck wouldn't they do something sooner? Even a visit to the family doctor...something.

*shudders* I despise the dentist. I tremble uncontrolably when I go *gags*

I will note this incident in my forthcoming book, "How not to starve your child to death". I am totally kicking myself now for not getting it done sooner.
