When Engineers have too much time on their hands.
When Engineers have too much time on their hands.
Take one engineer, bored to distraction, add three wheels, a frame and some springs. What do you get?
A rolling nut-crusher.

There's no link in the link box.

I had a try at finding the story elsewhere but drew a blank.

Silly indeed, but still no worse than an "off-road segway"

so what was wrong with the bike? too hard to figure out how to use those complex pedals and keep your balance?

and for the record the off-road segway looks pretty sweet!

Anyone recall the South Park episode where they all get hooked on that car that runs by jamming one rod in your back end and steers with a rod in your mouth? Yeah...

I guess I just don't see the purpose...of either product. The segway was created with the intention of revolutionizing transportation in a crowded city by reducing the need for bulky automobiles/cabs to take a single person 5 city blocks and not mess up a suit/dress or make the person need to take a shower once he got to where he was going.

It's not very fast, but it is efficient and compact so you're using it with a purpose of convservation and convenience....now take it off roading? That's just being lazy... :)

I tried to find a video of that thing for something a while back, I think it was in a futuristic car post, but all I could find was one in Spanish. That was a funny episode though.

I prefer this thing though:

I actually think it is pretty neat. I can see how it may prove uncomfortable for some men but it gives a whole new option for exercise.

This thing cannot be real. No one in the entire design process saw any flaws with the thing!? Wow. I feel a whole lot smarter now. And p.s. there is no way he got that thing on the bus without any hassle. They cut the shot off just as the handle bar was about to get stuck in the doorway.
