Worse, they, like some other species of ants, are attracted to electrical equipment, for reasons that are not well understood by scientists.
It's an old problem and it's pretty well understood.
Some types of insulating coatings on PCBs contain sugars (don't know what kind, probably cellulose related though) which the ants are attracted to.
