Here's a howto earthquake detector for those of who aren't in the queue for the glass of Kool-Aid with the Apple logo on the side:

• Step one: Is the building you are in shaking violently? If yes got to step two. If no, go to step three.
  
• Step two: You are experiencing an earthquake. Go to step four.
  
• Step three: You are not experiencing an earthquake. Go to step four.
  
• Step four: React accordingly.
  
• Step five: If the building your are in is still standing, go to step one.

Certainly you must not have any silly useless software on your computer?

A bit harsh on Apple users. Really, the mere existence of this software literally says absolutely nothing about mac users. It just says there are some programmers out there with a silly idea a bit too much time on their hands.

Tell me honestly that there are no useless programs out there for Windows or Linux. I tripple doggy dare you.

On that note, I highly recommend that all Apple laptop users download THIS PROGRAM immediately, if not sooner. It uses the accelerometer to turn your laptop into a lightsaber!

No, not really offended, although I am an avid Mac user. I have been for about eight years though, so I'm not someone who just hopped onto the bandwaggon. I'm definitely not on the Kool-Aid queue, but I absolutely prefer Mac to PC. I also have nothing against PCs. In fact, I kinda have a crush on the 11.1'' Vaio. I really wish Apple would make something smaller than 13''.

I digress, however. My point was simply that this isn't a Mac vs. PC debate. I feel that some annoying macheads should be kicked in the ganoots, but those people really have nothing to do with this software.

If the software was made by Apple, became popular, came installed on every new Mac, or was anything but free, I would say "open fire," because at that point they deserve it.

But in this case, as annoying as the little Mac addicts may be, their hands are clean of this one.

Well then these guys could be your saviour.

I've not been following it too closely, but so far it seems that all Apple have been able to do is get them to change the wording on their website a little.

Historically, this strikes me as very similar to what happened to IBM PCs, opening up the market and allowing the PC to become ubiquitous.

If this does work out and Apple do realise that you attract more flies with honey than vinegar it may well mean that you can get the OS of your choice on the hardware of your choice.

And you'd have to be near the head of the Kool-Aid queue to argue that was a bad thing.

Good, because I'd walk away from it if it were. Once upon a time I used to read most of the content on Digg. Part of the reason I jumped off that ship and swam to the SS Plime is that there's only so many ways you can say "Sir, I use a different operating system to you. Inherent in my decision to adopt my OS was my rejection of yours. It is with this sensibility that I find your choice questionable and will proceed to lay out my reasons why. When I am done you will be at liberty to refute any of my claims, provided you have sufficient evidence and logic to back it up."* and pretty much every single permutation was explored. Especially ones relating choice of OS in relation to whether the user should catch AIDS and die.

And it saddened me.

Equally Windows, Linux, brand of games console, sports team, sport, car or colour of lipstick.

I guess you could say I'm a fanboi of not being a fanboi. Which can be tricky.
