I am. So are roughly 25% of the global population, so you might well be too.

Following a recent conversation with a plimate who thought they might be dyslexic, and knowing at least one other who is I thought it might be interesting to find out if there are any more of us.

This isn't a comprehensive assessment by any stretch, but it will give you an idea if you are on the spectrum.

Remember though that there are other conditions that can replicate similar patterns, so types of autism, ADHD, etc.

I was well into my 20s before I realised I was dyslexic, which didn't enhance my academic career. It is still useful to know.

I said yes to 14 of the questions, by the way.

And yes, that's deliberate with the theme pic. That's how I found it.

I said yes to just one...But I didn't think I was dyslexic.

For anyone who is--get help! The impact therapy can make is amazing. I worked as a tutor all through high school, and I worked with a LOT of dyslexic people. It was so wonderful to see their progress, and made a huge difference in their self confidence. I can't tell you how many had thought themselves stupid--and been treated as stupid by teachers and peers alike.

I answered yes to 13, and that's kind of interesting.

I had a prof last year suggest I was dyslexic as I sometimes write my class notes from right to left, especially if I'm using my left hand. I didn't think much of it, though.

It felt kind of funny reading some of the questions. I always mix up bus numbers and phone numbers. The most embarassing is how I somehow always to mix up my seat number on airplanes, especially on trips with connections. D'oh!

I only answered yes to three of the questions, but I've always wondered if I had an acute dyslexia.

I have always mixed up my b's and p's, writing or typing. A lot of it has become muscle memorization, but quite frequently when I mean to type/write a b, it'll show up as a p, and just the opposite. It'll take me a few tries to correct it as well.

Maybe I'm just imagining something that's not there. I'm a really good speller, but it could be because I pay attention to details enough to make sure everything's right before I hit submit...

The only question I answered yes to, was the reading aloud. I can't stand reading aloud, or being read to aloud. It is so slow and annoying. My brother's girlfriend insists on reading everything aloud while we are playing Wii, it drives me nuts, as everyone in the room has already read the entire text.

The only reason I tend to avoid long books, is I tend to get hooked on them, and if I get into a good book, I'll read it all night instead of sleeping.

I answered yes 12 times. I do have a visual processing disorder where I can't look at a problem and work it out. Reading has been high for me, but my comprehension of the content was usually low. I have to read things over sometimes to be able to retain the information. I have wondered about dyslexia from time to time. Now my curiosity is even higher.

Yes to 5, no to 14. They said (I just typed siad and had to correct it) I might benefit from a consultation.

I function okay, though, so what-the-heck.

Ummmm, yes, I do find that difficult.
I thought that too, but I tried it, and could do it almost as quickly as forward.
I only said yes to 2, so I guess I'm not dyslexic. Though I didn't think I was anyway.

I think this test has way too open a definition of dyslexia.

There is a trend in modern psychology towards turning all variations in personality and ability into disorders of some kind - people who get road rage have "intermittent explosive disorder" - when all many of these things come down to in actual definition is an arbitrary cutoff on a test such as this one.

I think there are many, many, underlying causes and personalities that could answer yes to more than 5 of these questions without "benefiting from a consultation with an educational psychologist" or whatever it is the test suggests.
