I wonder how many of those "recycling is actually bad for the environment" and "cars do not contribute to global warming" claims are made by lobbyists to companies, that benefit from continuing consumption of just about every resource there is. It's much easier to adress the lazy side of people than to actually take up some environmental responsibility :)
Somehow, I'm not convinced. I recall Mr. Penn saying something about proof in the beginning, but throughout the video I only saw people tossing their opinions around.
It's a pop piece designed to entertain like the rest of the series, but there is enough in there to challenge perceived wisdoms about recycling.
I'd known for years that glass recycling causes more harm than good, but there were a few other eye openers in there for me.
One of the most frustrating things I find about the whole recycling issue is that, at least in this country, people spend time sorting, cleaning and separating their household waste and then if you visit recycling centres they have big, expensive looking, electricity consuming wall boards proclaiming things like "Last Month We Recycled 23% of Collected Waste" like that's something to be proud of.
