This would be a major achievement, not only for herpes viruses, but hopefully for dormant chicken pox viruses as well.. The cause of very painful shingles outbreaks.

Why does the article only mention HSV1? Why no mention of HSV2? Or the fact that these viruses have "jumped" and are now interchangeable as far as location?

I read a Saturday Evening Post article a long time ago that said that the virus likes arginine (found in corn, wheat, jello, chocolate, nuts) and dislikes lysine (found in certain fishes and not as many other foods, so L-lysine supplement recommended.) I've had this since very young childhood and know when an outbreak's coming b/c I crave chocolate and peanut butter. I don't take the supplements since I already eat enough pills in the AM that I don't need breakfast. I take one of every color to get in all the groups. ;^) One more thing, a great topical treatment is spirit of camphor, cheap (around $1.70) and available at your local pharmacy. Dries it up super quick. See ya, hope this helps someone.

LOL, the pic could be much worse!
A cure or even a permanent suppressant would be awesome. Shingles sux big time. And I'm allergic to most types of lipsticks - I get a cold sore from it! Without Acyclovir, I would get 8 cold sores every month instead of only one a year!
