Pesky ethics getting in the way of scientific progress!
Neat article though, what about the man on a deserted island with tons of books but no glasses experiment?

Well, I would have a child, preferably a boy under 12 months old with a nice strong manly name and not inform the mother of the expirment, like Albert or something, and present him with a loud sound and a rat to determine whether classical conditioning can be found in humans. If so, I would then present the child with other furry objects to see if he would react in the same fashion as with the rat. Following the experiment, I would not desensitize the child. Too much trouble.
Wait, that's been done? Crap. In all seriousness though, i quite like the grammar one. That is a very neat little experiment.

Philosophers have long wondered whether people care only about their own feelings of happiness or whether they truly do want to be accomplishing something meaningful in their lives.
I say your life takes on meaning once you focus on those feelings of happiness.
Whether this joy is justifiable by being brought on from a virtual world is a very interesting thought. Just look at all those people hooked on WoW and ask them if they believe they are "accomplishing something meaningful". I wonder what kind of responses you'd get.

I think it would be possible to amputate someone's body, leaving their brain floating in a jar.
If you think about it, we really exist to reproduce. That aside, our bodies exist to move our brains around and let us interact with the outside world.
They would have to perfect manipulating the blood chemistry.
I wonder how long a floating brain could live?
One day we'll all be floating brains in jars.

One day we'll all be floating brains in jars. Wouldn't the brain be rendered useless? I mean, without flowing oxygen and replenished blood.
