Total Solar Eclipse of 2008 August 01
Total Solar Eclipse of 2008 August 01
On Friday, 2008 August 01, a total eclipse of the Sun is visible from within a narrow corridor that traverses half the Earth. The path of the Moon's umbral shadow begins in Canada and extends across northern Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia, Mongolia, and China. picked by AutumnLotus 5 months ago

Ditto, being that we are in SoCal. Maybe some good tickets can be found to the Arctic? or Mongolia? But then, maybe not.

Yea out of range for me too...i had the luxury of seeing two Lunar Eclipses recently though. One was in February 2008 and the other Fall 2007. The one in February '08' was great as i was on a ship out on the ocean at night.

Have yet to see a total solar eclipse :-/

I remember a solar eclipse back in elementary school. All of the children were taken outside to watch, unfortunately for society we used those special sun viewing tube thingers.

Hells yeah!!! I'll be right in range, providing my plane gets up there in good time on the 1st. I think a "night" like this in the land of the midnight sun will be incredibly, incredibly eerie.

eerily though, it sounds kinda romantic. Hmmm so since its dark out, will you still need those special glasses? i wonder.
