From the article: "Apparently there is no theory that fully explains the surplus tentacles, but they are believed to be the result of abnormal regeneration that occurred after the octopus suffered some sort of injury."

I detest the use of the word "theory" when "hypothesis" is more appropriate.

My hypothesis is that there is a mutation in a regulatory gene controlling regeneration. Or it could be the work of satan.
