« misswinkle : OK, former stripper here. I like most of these comments here from everyone but, blurmore, I think you're overreacting just a wee bit. They "communicate" because they are in a business-a very lucrative one, at that. We don't put much thought into people who are going to be there for the one time deal. All our money is on the customers who return because they actually like us-maybe even for our personalities (shocking!) I'd rather be in a club taking your money than actually being there spending it. It is a job. It isn't our whole lives. I guess we just all have different views.
No offense meant by the "pity" comment above. This woman was well... past her prime and really trying to work me, it just made me feel sorry for her. I wanted to sit her down and talk with her, I got the strange feeling no one really talked with her, only at her and to her. On the other hand, I've had friends that were strippers and they were very astute and really had it together, but they'd quit after making their money so...

I know a lot of people protest these types of establishments sighting that the 'girls' are getting taken advantage of. An old friend of mine paid her way through college and went on at least two trips a year overseas... and all she had to do was wag her boobs in the face of drunk guys. I'd say the men are the ones being taken for a ride here.

I disagree. Strippers have a very specialized job that requires talent. It is not about taking off their clothes, it is about connecting with their clients. Most are relatively well educated and articulate. They are some of the best and quickest judges of people I have ever seen. (At least the experienced girls are.) They need to decide, very quickly what a client wants and if he is worth (in a monetary sense) the time it will take. The girls that talk to a client and pay attention to him get repeat customers and a very good repeat income.

On the other side, most guys that go to clubs regularly know what they want. Most want the attention of a sexy girl for a little while. Yeah, I know, there are some just wanna pay a dollar and see her naked. Both usually get what they are looking for. Where is the "taken for a ride part?"

They're being "taken for a ride" in a sense that the strippers know just what to do and who to go after in order to get the "Big bucks" from the customers.

Winkie: I respect the fact that women who ply the pole for money have brains, feelings, and personality. I guess what I don't understand is why anyone would PAY to talk to them naked, just sit around and talk. Maybe men who pay women they aren't going to go home with, are just REALLY bad at striking up a conversation with women who aren't getting paid to listen to them. I've visted a few strip club review sites and I see a lot of complaints about strippers with "attitude" which I can only assume means they won't talk to you without paying them or they express an opinion contrary to the person who is putting up the money. What DO you talk to a stripper about? I'm guessing most of the conversation tends toward b***hing about the man's wife/gf, and this IS the way you end up cheating on your wife/gf with a sympathetic person in a bar who isn't getting paid to listen to you, so what do they expect? I think I could get about as much enjoyment from talking to a pet. Maybe this is because I can talk to women. I understand that not all men are as comfortable with this as I am, and the money is like a safety net that the man isn't going to be rejected or humiliated. Paying doesn't IMPROVE a man's ability to talk to people with no monetary interest in the conversation. If you pay to talk to a stripper and your eyes drift (or stay on) her breasts, she isn't going to mind, and if she minds I'm sure she'll get over it so long as you keep paying. If you do that with a woman you aren't paying she is going to walk away or you are going to get slapped. It reinforces bad habits, and feeds your weakness, which is usually a fear of intimacy. You can spill your guts to a stripper about your feelings because you are PAYING her to be an emotional dumping ground, a shrink gets paid too but they are going to give advice after the dump, and that isn't anything you want to hear. A good conversation (which could lead to a relationship) between two people enivitably ends them sharing something about themselves which could cause them pain, something that involves full use of your emotional being. I have a feeling this happens in the payed conversation as well, the stripper lets the guy know something about her past, present, family, something, and now he's hooked. Why do men stalk strippers? Become infatuated? Fall in Love? Because they can't GET that from women they aren't paying, and intimacy (even cash and carry) is a VERY addictive emotional transaction. Repeat customers don't come back for the woman's body alone, they may be enticed, attracted, titilated by that, but it is the strippers soul and personality for sale which keeps them coming back.

So I hope that the strip club we go to is more of a car show, state fair livestock ring, than a feeding ground for the emotional succubus who have drained the pockets and any hope of love from more than one of my relatives and friends.

2morrow...I had to rent a van, I'm planning on strapping a +size love doll I found to the roof and bringing a bullhorn to heckle the locals on the street. I'm gonna have fun, just no so much at the strip club, my wife pointed out one thing I REALLY have to be careful of, I use the words ho, hooker, and stripper interchangebly and I'm pretty sure that will get me in trouble.

As bad and not as bad as I thought. We had a LOT of fun, the bachelor, my Brother-in-law shocked and amazed us with his stamina and ability to hold his liquor. He was "treated" to the treatment including being whipped with his own belt, he took it like a man and even asked for more. The girls weren't aggressive, it was pretty obvious the DD and I were NOT looking for lapdances and "special" attention. I resisted pressure to get a lap dance, explaining that none of the girls were my type and that I was picky. Truly there weren't really any girls that really turned me on, if there were sub 5'5" D cup brunettes, or pale redheads I might have been tempted, but this place seemed to have the market cornered on blond bimbos, amazon black girls, and b***hy looking leggy brunettes. In general the girls were more charictures of women than real women, but I guess I'm weird because real women do it for me and stereotypes don't. The ONLY girl shorter than 5'5" came up to me and ran her fingers through my hair (I was like the only long hair in the place) and asked me if I was Irish to which I SWEAR I responded "I guess, I can be Irish if you want me to be". She said Irish was good, she liked Irish giggled and went on stage. We were up on the second level and I wanted to see if she could climb the pole like the amazons for a 5 spot but it was no can do. So she kinda specially laid on the stage below and showed me her well manicured equipment, I really wanted to see her try to climb the pole but I didn't want to be a tease so I gave her the 5 anyway. I got another hair toussle or 2 by closing time and we went for breakfast. I really wasn't even paying attention enough to catch her stripper name. She was trailer, and I have a soft spot for trailer, but even she didn't really do it for me. I was never so happy to be home, take a bath in purell, and fall asleep next to my wife, a real woman, who really does it for me. So it wasn't SO bad, more of a very interesting study in sociology. My impressions of the exploitive nature of the game on both gender teams were the most overblown, nobody there was getting anything they weren't asking or paying for.
