Just to get A thread going in the Sports forum, I hearby ask you to post your alliances.

Football (Pro): Cincinnati Bengals
Football (College): Toledo Rockets (Although on OSU-Michigan day, I will root for the other Blue and Gold)
Hockey: Columbus Blue Jackets

As you can probably figure out, they're mostly geographical... though a lot of people in this town gravitate to Detroit sports.

Except for the Cubs (boooo), I'm a big homer too. I'm a huge and long-time Chicago Bears fan, and Chicago Bulls fan too..altho I've grown pretty weary of the rebuild (are they done yet? :D). On the college level, I'm partial to Purdue football these days..dislike Duke- & USC-anything :D..but enjoy the rest, especially bowl games/March Madness.

And peewee baseball is awesome. :D

being from Oklahoma we don't have any home teams to cheer for so mostly we pick someone and go with it! my dad raised us to be Yankee fans so that is a solid one...beyond that I am not rock solid for anyone but here goes.

baseball: Yankees
football: Bears (whomever is playing the Cowboys)
hockey: Red Wings (gotta love fans that throw octopi on the ice)
soccer: any other sport that is on
basketball: the only pro team to call Oklahoma home...the Hornets!

Football is the only sport I can stomach.

Green
Bay
Packers

Don't care how they do, I'll root for them anyway.

I'll root for the Giants too.

And I'll root for anyone playing against the cowpokes.

Pro football is the ONLY PRO SPORT.

Raiders Raiders RAIDERS RAIDERS RAIDERS !!!!

Hockey isn't a sport, it is ice-skating, fighting, and playing with a puck. (Hey, blame George Carlin, it was his description.)

The rest are ruined by playing with a round ball. Also, most of them stop for silly reasons like rain or a little blood. Wimps!

Ok, first you say hockey isn't a sport...then you say those that are sports are ruined by a little blood.

You OBVIOUSLY don't watch hockey.

I would put all my money on a hockey player over a football player in a cage match any day.

Pro Football (American) - Philadelphia Eagles (in the AFC I like the Chargers)
College Football (American) - Michigan Wolverines
Hockey - Buffalo Sabres

Those are the only two sports I care about, and I have only recently started getting into Hockey. Quite honestly, I checked it out in part because of icepigs and tomphoolery talking constantly about it, and a couple avid hockey fans at work.

But... I do have some teams selected for the other sports should I ever get into them.

Basketball - Portland Trailblazers (picked them way beck when they had Drexler)
Baseball - NY Mets (Derryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden are responsable for me picking these guys)

My biggest problem with most sports is that there are too many games in a season for anything to matter. In Football, every game counts; if you lose three in a row it really hurts. In the other sports, losing three in a row hurts, but it makes up just a fraction of the entire season.

You cranberry!

Read the whole thing.

1. Football is the only sport.

2. Hockey isn't a sport BECAUSE it is really three activities at once, etc. etc. etc.

3. The rest (all the other non-hockey so-called sports) are not sports because... (Please refer to the first point to understand I that when I said they were ruined, I meant their claim to being sports was ruined.)

I didn't say all the rest WERE sports, I said the WERE NOT because the stopped for rain and blood. That was the JOKE!

I know that hockey players don't stop for a bloody nose like the wimps. Why would I include the Hockey joke if the Wimps joke also covered Hockey.

Now you have ruined the joke by being too much of a grape-stomping melon-head and making me explain it!
