What is the significance of that time? It’s how long it took me to run my first ever Half Marathon! Yes, earlier today (April 6th), I ran the Big D Half Marathon in under 2 and a half hours! (FYI – a half marathon is 13.1 miles)

I am very happy with my time and my run. My goal was to finish in less than 2 and a half hours and I succeeded.

The first 5 miles I ran at around a 10:40 pace (that’s 10 minutes and 40 seconds per mile).

The next 5 miles I ran between 11:04 and 11:30 each mile.

The final 3 miles were a bit slower - averaging around 12:15 per mile.

My fastest mile was mile 4 which I ran in 10 minutes and 10 seconds.

My average pace was 10:48 (or 5.3 MPH).

I burned 2698 calories.

I ran most of the way – walking through the water stops and there were 3 hills that I had to walk up. The one halfway through Mile 7 was so huge; almost everyone around me had to walk up it.

My next “major” race will be the Marine Corps Marathon in October…where I plan to run the entire 26.2 miles. Right now, my goal finish time for the MCM will be 5 hours. Whew!

Anyway, I just wanted to share that I completed a major goal today and am pretty excited about it.

Hopefully, there will be pictures available soon. I will share when (or if) I get them.

One time when I had the squirts, I from the living room to the bathroom in less than ten seconds.

*sigh*

That didn't sound nearly as impressive as I thought it was.

Way to go pigs. If I had to run that far... Well, I wouldn't.

Congratulations! That's awesome. Will you be adding a marathon run to your monthly training? I keep waffling about entering a race--probably a tri--as a motivator for working out harder.

You burned over 2600 calories! Sweet, that means you can have one of my favorite burgers. The Ultimate Cheeseburger at 1100 calories and still have some left over. Add onto that some fries and a shake and you almost make it all back. Think of it as "breaking even"

Congrats, mate. I ran a 10k about a year ago and it took me 2:14 and was my first time. I alternated running and fast walking and was so pumped afterwards that it was hard to talk. I was THRILLED to finish, and ahead of others I thought would leave me in the dust.

Geez... I'm pretty sure I couldn't go 13 miles in a day, let alone under 2 1/2 hours.

Congrats! Earn back some of those calories with a ice cold beer.

Whatever. What a cheap ploy for upvotes. Did you remember to flash the shocker correctly?

Seriously, good job, boy. I'm impressed. Keep it up. We won't recognize you soon.

Wait! You're just trying to buff up to help you with your come-on when you massage one of those cocaine and boob job blondes from Highland Park, aren't you?

I hope so....but the cameraman was at the finish line and I was pretty beat by then. I don't know if I even did it at all.

Yes.

And, yes, I was in pain.

This picture was taken about 20 yards in front of the finish line.

I challenge you to run 13 miles and still have a smile on your face.....

No prob.

As long as I can run it in 10 yards segments with at least 1 week between each segment.

And please tell me the fresh looking lady behind you didn't pass you...

I'm sorta hoping you ran the entire 13 miles with your hand like that, just in case you were photographed.
