I just think it sucks when that happens to my computer
...like when the asswipes say "Shoulda bought a Chevy" when your Ford breaks down...
You know the type...
Oh yeah, we have a dodge and these rednecks teased us before about it. "You know what it says next to Dodge in the dictionary don't you? To avoid. Haw haw haw haw haw." *cracks open a Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer*

Icepigs: STOOOPPPP!!! All may not be lost. I reformatted a hard drive a few months ago before realizing that I hadn't rescued all my documents off of it. When Windows formats or deletes a file, it deletes the first byte of the file (the first letter of the filename) The rest of the file is sitting on your hard drive, gloriously untouched and ready for retrieval. The point is, since the OS was installed first, and you re-installed it, you probably didn't overwrite much, if anything. I forget the name of the program I used, but if you're interested in giving it a shot, let me know here or PM me and I will look it up. Oh, and let us know next time something like this happens, guys and girls. I'll always be willing to spend an hour or so on the phone to help a Plimate avoid disaster :) Phone number by request...

That's really really nice of you!
IP - When my laptop went bad I installed a 2nd version of windows, thereby keeping the documents folders from deleting. I got lucky, but it means a slower bootup because the pc asks me which windows it wants to load first. but it was worth it.

I'm interested in hearing the name. I've got a disaster recovery program(I'm not sure of the name, I'll check when I get to my shop in a couple of hours) that I would be willing to mail to you if it would help you recover files ice. It says that it will recover files even when drives have been reformatted. I've never used it.

Thanks. I am interested in the recovery stuff...
I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with Dell. Yea, I know they might not be the best option, but it was the only one I had at the time.
