Lasers-guided cars could allow drivers to eat and sleep at the wheel while travelling in 70mph convoys
Lasers-guided cars could allow drivers to eat and sleep at the wheel while travelling in 70mph convoys
Drivers will be able to sleep, read, work or watch television behind the wheel of their cars at 70mph on the motorway, using technology being developed by scientists.
A system which will lock cars together using sensors and wireless technology, allowing up to ten at a time to cruise in ‘car train’ convoys, could be unveiled within two years. picked by AutumnLotus 5 months ago

I have thought of something like this too!, only instead of a lead driver controlling a convoy, a person would program their destination into a dashboard computer and chips implanted in the pavement would take care of all the rest - car speed, spacing, turns, etc. I guess it wasn't all that crazy a thought!

With as much as my car screws up and my computer crashes, I tell you now: no good can come of this.

Not just that, only 1 of the cars needs to have a problem with the brakes and you'll have a very nice collision when the professional driver tries to stop.

People won't even car-pool effectively so this is doomed to fail.

Worse, people not in the group will get very frustrated. Possibly to the point of hurting other people.
