Bio-alarm clocks set for perfect wake-up Posted: 1 year ago by AutumnLotus
Morning grogginess may be a thing of the past thanks to bio-alarm clocks designed to wake sleepers at the perfect time. The clocks detect brainwaves or body movements and are programmed to wake sleepers during light sleep, which occurs periodically through the night.

I really want one of those wristband ones - they sound like such a good idea.

I'm not a fan of alarm clocks, but I'm even less of a fan of mornings and waking up so I need one.

Try putting a lamp on the other side of the room on a timer. Have the light come on about 20 minutes before you want to get up. Alternately, there are several alarms that have lights that come on, either slowly brightening, or flashing.

I use a flashing model. It flashes for a few minutes, and if I don't turn it off there's a really annoying ring that I can't ignore. But, it seldom goes off, as the light is usually enough.

I did have for a long time one that has a light that rises up out of the top of the alarm and gets brighter. It was surprising how effective it was.

The ringer part of it stopped working a while back though, and I don't trust the light part enough. Sometimes I would sleep through it.

I'm really intrigued by the idea of a an alarm that chooses the most suitable time to wake you - I think that would be really effective.

But I have a timer switch, so I'll give that trick a go tonight.

My husband used to go to work about an hour before I did. He'd turn on the light in the hallway, and bathroom outside the room. It wasn't waking me outright, but it got me out of a deep sleep so my alarm did the rest. Then his schedule changed, and he went in later than me--all the sudden I had the hardest time waking up with my alarm! Adding the lamp on a timer did the trick.

Not a huge success, but I'll stick with the idea because I think it's something you need to become accustomed to.

I also think I need to use a brighter lamp.
