It seems to be to an open and shut decision. IF his prosthetic limbs give him an advantage as the testing by the assumably neutral professor showed than he shouldn't be allowed to compete just as someone fully bodied can't compete in the paraolympics if they had an unfair advantage or for that matter how you can't take any chemical that might give you a slight edge.

I can see where his mechanical racing blades would give him a major advantage. The testing people found a large advantage not just a slight advantage.

Even if he was allowed to compete, he has yet to meet the criteria for qualification for the Olympic team. If he did make the team he would have to use the same exact prosthetics since technology gets better day by day, which would be another definite illegal advantage. He already holds world records, now he wants more?

I think the solution to this, is to have such prostetics standardised (Made by only one manufacturer, like tires are now in Formula 1 racing). This averts differences between said prostetics, and it will rely more on the skill and strenght of the person wearing them.

I don't think that will come to pass, DS, but fwiw I really like the idea. I'd like to see him compete because of what he's had to overcome to get this far..that somehow the disadvantage of his personal handicap cancels out the advantage of having the prosthetics. I realize tho that his abilities have to be evaluated at this current point in time, and I'm afraid he will have to sit out the competition.
