Space Shuttle Processing Posted: 5 months ago by doggylives
Some amazing photo's of the Discovery shuttles external tank fitting. From arrival by barge to lift-off. It gives you some idea of the sheer hugeness of these things.

May be a dupe but I can't find it

Impossibly Cool Fish Tank Posted: 1 year ago by gnikgnok
"I don't know how this fish tank works exactly, but from what I could understand, the tank on top that joins the adjacent tanks works as a vacuum. The result is that there are feeding holes in the side of the tank, and the water does not flow out. I could not wrap my mind around this technology, but it works."

NASA finds tiny hole in Atlantis caused by space debris Posted: 2 years ago by Fanatic
NASA discovered that space shuttle Atlantis has been holed by a tiny piece of space debris. The 1/10-inch hole represents the second largest debris damage event ever identified. Fortunately, it missed everything that was important to the mission. Space debris is an increasingly challenging problem.

Sci-fi Ship Chart Posted: 1 year ago by deepchill
Gives size comparison for everything from 2001: A Space Odyssey's USS Discovery to a Heavy Cruiser from Babylon 5. TONS of Trekkie stuff, and neat even for non-nerds to peek at, as it includes real Earth space ships, like the State's shuttle.

Top Gear launches a Space Shuttle--Made from a (real) car!? Posted: 1 year ago by Fanatic
The solution to the high cost of space travel involves launching a Reliant Robin--a 3-wheeled car with a pointy nose--on a 1/5 scale space shuttle. With predictable results. Take it from me, though, the amateur rocketry technology behind this launch is incredible, and the results are due to the short TV production schedule. (20 minutes, FF to 16:00 if you just want to see the outcome).
