A gun that fires variable speed bullets and which can be set to kill, wound or just inflict a bruise is being built by a US toy manufacturer. The guns will be anything but toys and will offer a wider range of options for police and military.

Something like this could be quite helpful in certain situations. Sadly something like this could be quite dreadful and abused as well.

They already have guns that shoot rubber bullets, beanbags, and paintballs. Why do we need a variable speed bullet??
Seems like an unnecessary opportunity for operator error and abuse.
A beanbag may hurt like hell but in the hands of a dumbass or a sadist, it still isn't going to kill me.

These should prove as safe as a taser.
