Army Uses 'Second Life' For Recruiting Posted: 12 months ago by punthe
The effort will consist of two virtual islands. One of them, will serve as a "welcome center" with an information kiosk and the means to contact a recruiter, the other will offer, "virtual experiences like jumping out of airplanes, and rappelling off of towers and using a weapon, to see if we can get some kind of recruiting benefit out of this social networking."

This is just sad. I'm not completely against second life but the Army should not be recruiting from it.

Seeing as Second Life has a pretty big GBLT community (Among other things...), I highly doubt they're going to get many recruits they'll actually be able to keep under the idiotic policies currently in place.

...Not to mention, do they REALLY think that the people on Second Life are going to be interested in the army? Seriously? Unless the army is in dire need of soldiers who are experts in anthropomorphic roleplaying or they need a group of skilled technicians to develop autonomous phallic helicopters, I think they're wasting their time.
