I was hoping for another regular ipod. Sigh... this is very expensive- its like getting an ipod nano (4-8gb, $200-250), and another $200-300 phone (which would probably have an MP3 player anyway, which you could expand to around 2gb for moderate cost.) The small hard drive isn't big enough for big music fans, and the price is too big for most who casually use the phone... what you really are paying for I guess is the screen and portability, but it still seems like much more of a luxury item then Apple normally presents. It's nice that its small, but id rather pay a smaller price, have a bigger battery, or have a much bigger hard drive. Also, i wonder just how badly people need to watch video and surf the web on the unit. It can be really difficult to put non-apple videos on itunes, and you may need a pricey Motorola plan to support the internet. It does look really nice though, and I bet prices will take a dive over the next few years as the next ones come out, like the RZER did for Motorola. Plus, It's Apple, so I guess they must know what they're doing...

What happened to products getting cheaper and better though? Perhaps they start high to make future, cheaper models more affordable. Sigh... no apple products for me for at least another year...

i agree this is expensive for a phone and ipod but this is basically an entertainment laptop with business functions as well. the maps, widgets (which are more useable on the iPhone than my desktop), email, calendar, contacts, and web browser make this more comparable to my Palm TX, cell phone, and iPod nano plus it will do videos.

this will make working from the golf course way easier than it currently is and it is also a new alternative for traveling that makes me excited. plus it looks cooler and will work better with my apple computers than the current "smart" phones.

well it took me a while to respond to this because i had to suction the 30 gallons of drool out of my keyboard first.

i mean we've all known this one was coming for quite some time (apple you suck at keeping secrets! but its okay we still love u!). so this comes as no surprise...but still to actually see it and how it works. man...my heart is aflutter! although its pricey, i'll probably get one within the year...i mean i need a new cell phone (mine is dying a slow and painful death) and my iPod was stolen almost a year ago...so if i were to replace both of those individually it would probably be around $399 so why not drop a bit more cash and get em both in one

some of my coworkers are at CES and they were pretty blown away by the demo.

heres their article on it if u want to check it

it is awesome, but if you need a lot of music (20-60 GBs) you'll need another ipod anyway. For the casual music listener, its probably fine. But its apple. Ipod. I wanted something for the person who is loyal to the 30GB ipod, not the nanos. But no, they seemed to have left that group out a little this time.

Plus, as a phone, i'd wait and see the pricing on its features. Battery life may take a blow- though the automatic features are just plain awesome. But Motorola may charge a pretty penny monthly for email and internet on it. I guess for the crowd it's aimed at, its an amazing product. But for the rest of us, we'll have to wait another year or so. Sadly

OMG! WTF! I was really hoping for a slide in tweezer, you know like on that victorinox product.. and I mean, DURRRR.. why didn't they put in toothpick too, they totally under-engineered this thing, How the hell am I going to rock out to my extended utramix of Debbie Gibson Vs Burzun ( ad-nauseum mix ) If it only has a finite amount of MP4 space? geez, these nutz at Apple really missed the boat this time.. they should have designed something remotely desirable and even just halfway intuitive! well, looks like I'm back to using my Old school Miami vice motorola two way voice pager and the old edison Victorola...

Jeez, just when you thought we were making some progress..
