Guess which hotel I'm staying at in Norway? Posted: 2 weeks ago by
Yup, St Svithun , the hospital hotel. Only place with any rooms and I booked it in April. Doesn't help that the Beach volleyball tournament brings 200,000 visitors to this small city. We were there in 2006 during the tournament too, but that time I booked my hotel room in February. At least it will be quiet at the hotel. Edited to add: I'll be gone June 25-July 11. July 4-11 will be touring Ireland. Will try to check in. ICE contact Bornbad....

This is bullshit Posted: 4 weeks ago by
I took the elevator down to the 2nd floor so I could get a pop from the machine down there where the pops are like 75 cents instead of the $1.25 that they are on my floor. So I get the pop and wait for the elevator and when it finally arrives I realise that some mother f**ker farted in the damn thing. It was terrible. I was trying to fan some of the stench out of there before the door closed, but to no avail. It was there for the whole ride back up. I'm so pissed off right now. And no, it was not the sam...

My Best Holiday Posted: 1 year ago by
I'm a world traveller, and I love it. Can't wait to finish studying and do some more travelling. I was wondering what kind of awesome holidays people have had.
I'll kick it off.
My best holiday to date was in Thailand. I went with my family (mom, dad, 2 brothers) about 9 years ago. I'm from South Africa, so nature alone does not impress me per se. I'm also not a stay in a hotel and take guided tours person. So we didn't do that. We arrived in Bangkok, did our own searching around for a hotel...

Bike Repair Posted: 4 months ago by
Do any of you know anything about bikes or bike repair? I recently bought a POS bike off of craigslist for about $30 just for getting around campus but it is giving me a buttload of problems. As far as I can tell, it has a bent dérailleur, a bent freewheel, and I think the entire back wheel is a bit bent as well. I would be willing to put a bit more money into the bike to get it in good working order since I paid so little for it, but I don't know if it is just going to cause me more problems in t...

California, here I come! Posted: 7 months ago by
Hey gang. As pocksucket requested of me in the future , I have started this thread. I will be in California the week of X-mas. Long Beach, to be exact. I will be visiting my brother-in-law (wife's brother) and we have a few things planned, but I would like to hear some suggestions on where to go and what to see? I am really looking forward to this trip. I haven't flown since Basic Training and am not to fond of it, honestly. We will be going to Disney Land and the San Diego Zoo . Also we have plans to ...

How did you meet your significant other? Posted: 1 year ago by
This is dorkfire's fault. In the travelling thread, dorkfire posted a bit of romance: A few years ago, i was flying to The U.S. from spain, to visit my mom, and on the wat i sat next to this nice old lady. We talked alot on the flight and i got to really like her, sort of as a temporary family member. It was very cool, but got even cooler when i found out that she was going to the same place as me, had a daughter, and... well, the rest is history. I'm now married to that nice old ladies daughter, and ha...

Roadside rescues Posted: 8 months ago by
Well I just got back from a roadside rescue. I got a call from a lady friend of mine and she was on the side of the freeway about 15 miles from my house. So knowing that she ran out of gas (lucky guess) I grabbed my gas can and drove off. When I arrived and hopped out and quickly realized that I was not dressed for this job. It is about 37 degrees out and I'm just wearing a shirt. Oops. I walk up to her car and realize that the side that the gas hatch is on is the one on the side with the traffic. G...

The Car Accident Thread - What's Your Story? Posted: 8 months ago by
This is lengthy. Skip to the pretty pictures if it bores you. About seven years ago, my sister was scheduled to start college at Florida State University. So me, my mom, my dad, and my sister packed up the brand new station wagon and got ready to bring my sister down to Florida from New York. After driving for two days it happened. We were only one hour from our destination. My mom was driving at the time. We were in the right lane and there was a car driving slowly in the lane up ahead of us. My m...

Being a TCK Posted: 10 months ago by
I recently moved from Indonesia, where I've lived all my life, to Canada. Although I am a Canadian, I associate myself more with Indonesia. As a third culture kid, I've been experiencing reverse culture shock, and it's really thrown me off my bearings. It's been quite difficult adapting to the extremely different culture, and I wondered if anyone here has previously experienced this / knows a good site to visit to talk to other TCK's. Thanks in advance....

So some one really needs a motivation which energise not only that particular individual but it's body, mind and soul. There is no better way to do except travelling. The different treasured sites of nature, vibrant culture will bound a person to live an extra ordinary life . To visi...

Zenmaster Subway Conductor Announcements Posted: 1 year ago by
I was at the Mets/Cubs game at Shea yesterday with a group from my office. The 5 run, bottom of the ninth comeback was probably the most exciting inning I've ever seen in person. Everyone in the stands were on their feet the entire time. I've never high-fived so many people, friends and strangers! No one wanted to leave the stadium! We joined the hoards for the Flushing line subway back to Grand Central Station. The conductor is definitely smoking something. "Thank you for riding the 7 train. Today...

It may not even be a month since I returned from a week in Corfu, but I've still got holiday to use up before the end of the year, and, well... Corfu was with th in-laws, so it doesn't really count as a holiday!
Me and my partner want a long weekend away (Friday - Monday), nowhere ridiculously expensive, but we would like to treat ourselves a little.
We live in Brighton and are probably happier staying in the country but if traveling is easy and relatively hastle free, we'd consider somewhere cl...
