Bornbad had this post

on a town that had a, ahem, unusual name.

What is the name of a town, city, boro, village, THAT you've been in, that somebody would do a double take on.

We made a special detour so we could say we'd been to Dildo, Newfoundland on my last cross-country trip.

Balzac, Alberta and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan are close seconds, I think.

There're quite a few towns in Texas with funny names. Three that I've actually been in are Muleshoe, North Zulch and Dime Box. Two miles away from Dime Box is Old Dime Box.

Besides Hell, Michigan (that had a big ol' party on June 6th of this year), there's a small town near my old hometown that's just named Ai. The town consists of 3 houses and a church.

My hometown (Floydada) played Muleshoe in football every year.

In the Ft. Worth side of the Metroplex, there's White Settlement.

Although most people think it's state-wide, there is actually a Hicksville, TX

There is a town called Khedive (pronounced Key-dive), in western PA.

I've always liked Nooksack, Washington.

Drain, Oregon is a good one too.

I've also been to Intercourse, PA. Would have said that one if it hadn't already been mentioned.

Not that they're funny, but I used to live in El Salvador, and I noticed that every place down there, the nicer the name, the crappier the place. If it was called Zacatecoluca (that's a real name), that's no hint because it doesn't mean anything. But you'd better watch out if you ever head to Bella Vista or Vista Hermosa (which both pretty much translate to "nice view"), because they were probably going to be nasty.

Ha Ha, I was sure someone else would beat me.

Cut and Shoot, TX

I also used to live in a town called La Vista, or The View (They should sue Barbara Walters!)

And in Houston there is a street named Kuykhendahl, pronounced kirk-en-doll (note the lack of an 'r' in the actual spelling)

I happen to live in Prince Albert, SK :)

Finland has many interesting place names, such as "Hevonperse" (horse's arse), "Paskajoki" (crap river) and "Kiveslahti" (Testicle Bay).

Also "pee-eh?" :) It's a nice town if you like poverty, unemployment and crime ;)

In Finland I lived in Ikaalinen, which as far as I know doesn't mean anything. Up north in Oulujärvi (it's a lake) there's a group of islands called "Mulkkusaaret" (Cock Islands) - consisting of Pikkumulkku, Keskimulkku and Isomulkku (Little Cock, Middle Cock and Big Cock). If we ever build a summer cabin back in Finland, that's where I'd want it.
