I'm a world traveller, and I love it. Can't wait to finish studying and do some more travelling. I was wondering what kind of awesome holidays people have had.

I'll kick it off.

My best holiday to date was in Thailand. I went with my family (mom, dad, 2 brothers) about 9 years ago. I'm from South Africa, so nature alone does not impress me per se. I'm also not a stay in a hotel and take guided tours person. So we didn't do that. We arrived in Bangkok, did our own searching around for a hotel and trips and stuff.

The highlight of the holiday was a 3 day trekking tour in Chiang Mai. The first day consists of a 6-7 hour hike through the mountains with backpacks and a thai guy guiding us. The nature was beautiful, fresh air and the views... wow. That night we slept in a little Thai village, and though we all knew that lots of tourists pass through there every night, you couldn't notice it. That I liked.
The next day we walked a bit more and slept at another village. The third day we woke up at 7am and went to collect the elephants from their "grazing grounds" in the forrest. After a 2 hour ride on the elephant's back, we ended up in another village for lunch. The trip ended with a white-water trip down the river on bamboo rafts that we helped the guide make earlier in the day.

Apart from that trip we did loads of other small trips in the two cities, but this is supposed to be a short story, so I won't go into it.

Last week I had a lovely three-hour long trip to the loo. I caught up on my reading, made up the grocery list, and twiddled my thumbs for quite a while. On the whole it was marvelous and very refreshing. I can't wait to go back. Might take me laptop along so I can post updates on my blog.

My best holiday was a trip to Norway and Denmark last summer.

My mother is from Norway and all of her relatives (except for some cousins) still live there.

My boyfriend and I accompanied my mother to her hometown, Stavanger and one of my sisters joined us a couple of days later.

My mother organized a family reunion at a lovely beachfront resort. Although my mother's sister and brother live within minutes of each other, their spouses didn't get along (which I didn't know) hence their children didn't socialize. It was the first time my cousins saw each other in 30 years! And they plan to stay in touch, now!

We also had a wonderful lunch at Fjor or Fjare which is this incredibly beautiful garden island.

The World Beach Volleyball tournament was going on in Stavanger at the time we were visiting so it was a very festive time.

We also did a boat tour of the fjords to Preikestolen aka Pulpit rock.

On July 4th, we took a 5 hour ferry trip through the fjords north to Bergen, where we spent a couple of days with one of my cousins.

We traveled from Bergen to the capitol, Oslo, via the Bergen railway, an 8 hour trip that passes through the mountains and glaciers.

Oslo is an amazing city - we toured all the museums including the Edvard Munch museum(yay I saw "The Scream"), took in all the sites including Vigeland Sculpture park which I had want to see since I was a little girl.

We then traveled to Copehagen and I got to finally see the "Little Mermaid" who really is little. Had loads of fun and made some new friends, who are coming to NY for May 17 parade in Brooklyn to celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day. We plan to meet up with them at the parade!

I was going to tell about my Groundhog Day adventure but realized your holiday = my vacation.

In a previous lifetime:
A week in Hana, Maui, Hawaii. Two-man tent. Hours of hiking to beautiful and remote waterfalls. Getting skinny in natural freshwater pools. Diving - scuba and free. Exploring ruins. Fishing, spearing, or picking all food (except the marshmallows)... ahh, good times.

Present Day:
A vomit-free family weekend at the condo is a good vacation... sigh

hello.i went in vacation in Italy,Bibione and i came 2 days ago ... i loved it there and i was sorry for leaving.i search for this forum because i want to have information about somebody who was in vacantion there too.so maybe you cand help me if i give you some details about him...so he was with his family he sitts in sector 14 in front of the umbrella 577 where i used to stay...i think it's number 550.can you help me?i want to know if he left or if he got my note( i left him a note with my Yahoo ID under his umbrella) or hi5 name...any information it's welcome...he has middle blond hair and green eyes... please help me!!!
