To all of you who protect us. Thank you.

A special thank you to all the plimates who served our country. 'Nam vets, all you coasties, all of you.

My dad kept San Diego's airplanes safe during WWII. Peter (my late SO), managed 3 weeks in the Coast Guard. They are probably lucky he bailed out.

My current BF spent 4 years in the Coast Guard. No one, I repeat, no one, attacked Staten Island during his service.

Seriously, BF did do rescues during his duty - he didn't serve during wartime. And as Hoosk and the other coastie plimates will attest, that ain't easy duty.

We should thank all of the men and women serving every day, not just one day a year.

And to my Grandfather...he recently passed away, he landed at D-Day and was with "Old Blood and Guts" Patton for the remainder of the war.

Lots of stuff happened on this three-day period. I completely forgot about the Berlin Wall. I was stationed in Europe when it happened too. Shame on me. Good post Nicky!
