War , What Is It Good For? Some Amazing Photo's apparently
Just a fascinating collection of old war photos. I'm not normally interested in this kind of thing but they really capture some amazing moments and are intriguing to look through. Worth checking out just for the photo of Hitler in front of the Eiffel tower.. picked by doggylives 4 months ago

The exposure for those types of cameras was longer so you had to sit still for a couple of seconds. If you move at all it would get blurry.

amazing stuff

All too often we romanticize war. I think this picture explains its true reality:

He learned that "poop deck" is just a name... not an instruction.

My grandfather, who fought in WWII has a picture that really explains war.

Actually, it's two pictures... and if I had them on me, I'd scan and post them.

The first picture is him and his Sergeant sitting in a bar, right before he got shipped out for the first time. The Sergeant looks tired and weathered, and my grandfather looks young and has a big smile.

The next picture is of him in the same bar, the same place, but a after he's returned from combat. The Sergeant is someone else, and my grandfather looks years and years older. There is no more smile, and now he has that same tired and weathered look.

It's always been my favorite set of war pictures... very dramatic.
