Whenever I read stories like this, I wonder whether the those people really think there's magic involved, or do they rather laugh secretly when counting their money at night?
Same for those "magnetic" people, or psychic ones and all the other mountebanks.

Same for those "magnetic" people, or psychic ones and all the other mountebanks. I used to work with a guy that was in the Peace Corps in Africa. I cannot speak for someone who is in the public eye, but as far as the folks he worked with...yes. It was as dead serious to them as a heart attack. They were completely convinced that if you were sick, it was because of evil spirits.

Ah! She's got what's called "Uncombable Hair Syndrome" or "Hair Felting" You can read a blurb about it here (it's number 10 on the list), or here.
A definitive cause is not really known, although there are some identified risk-factors.
Basically, it causes your hair to suddenly become coarse, kinky, matted, and uncombable. It will mat into dreadlock-like knots. Generally, the only solution is to cut the hair off, although there have been cases of spontaneous remission.

Okay, matted hair? Kinda weird.
Spontaneous illness after determining to cut it off? Really weird. Leads a person to suspect mental illness.
