Light bulb burns for 81 years
For the past 81 years, Mangum's firefighters have had trouble sleeping. There has been a constant glow in their sleeping quarters from the nation's third longest burning light bulb. picked by dollyllama 8 months ago

I replaced all 5 of my bulbs about a year and a half ago. I hope they last longer. I got a deal of 8 for $2.

Like this bulb, they last longer if you don't turn them off.

I've had the same CF bug light on my front porch for the last 4 years.

LED lights, when they become less pricey, will be able to handle the constant power cycling found in residential applications far better than either incandescent or CF lights and will be more efficient as well. Fluorescent lighting makes its light differently than does incandescent, but it still relies on heated filaments and the process of heating and cooling the filament is what causes the most damage. Fluorescent makes sense in industrial or commercial applications since they only power cycle maybe once or twice a day.

This proves it. Livermore, my home town, is much better than yours. What else can I say? Being only an hour or so from San Francisco, our fire fighters know how to flame on by burning their light bulbs for history.

Sometimes I have to shake my head at what some people think is important. I live less than a mile from the 'historic' light bulb. I'd be lying if I said that I hadn't thought about a well placed shot from a BB gun. Heh, that would make me laugh.
