Lost theory generator Posted: 4 months ago by extc68
In 1969 the US department of defense invaded the island in order to use it as a test site for cutting edge developments in geomagnetism and genetic engineering. It was eventually hoped to try and work out a way to control the population of the world. The crash of flight 815 was caused by a swarm of remotely operated Dharma nanobots. The survivors of flight 815 are clones of the previous test subjects and the 'monster' in the jungle is a pissed-off giraffe. There are two groups of Others. One group are loyal devotees of Alvar Hanso and the other are the descendants of the original inhabitants of the island. The 'incident' mentioned in the orientation film was a massive explosion caused by a huge build up of electromagnetic energy and the button in the hatch is merely part of a psychological experiment. The numbers just represent the island's location.

For the next 'theory' just refresh the page.
Bonus: here's a slightly more elaborate theory.

Mass Plague Graves Found on Venice Quarantine Island Posted: 10 months ago by Moe
Got the plague? Onto the island. Vomiting? Onto the island. Fever? Island. Sniffles with a mild cough? You get the idea. You stayed there until you got well or died. Judging from the mass graves, not many got well.

The Other Mystery of Easter Island Posted: 2 years ago by Phildo
Should anyone find a workable translation for Rongorongo, the knowledge stored on the remaining tablets might explain the mysterious statues of Easter Island, the sudden appearance of the written language, and the island's history and customs as whole.
It doesn't take much to destroy a culture!

In August 2006, the crew of the yacht Maiken, sailing out of the Vava'u island group, encountered a remarkable "stone sea." The phenomena they spotted were a series of pumice rafts resulting from a nearby eruption, one that was forming a new volcanic island in Tonga.

New Rome Is Falling Into Disrepair Posted: 3 months ago by 2manyusernames
A few years ago, a number of brave intelligent men and women from the land of JaxWorth set out for the shores of Nova Roma. This was the New World discovered in the 15th century by Roman sailors traveling across the Pacific in search of a route to trade with India.

Basically it was a shared-world created by Donteatpoop, Icepigs, and others. They imagined a world where Rome never fell and went on to discover the continents on the other side of the globe. Little has been heard from the colony for 2 years. Mayhaps there is yet hope to determine their fate?
