Welcome To The Sanatorium
This place is freakin spooky. I'd love to take a night tour around it. Fascinating history to it too. picked by doggylives 3 months ago

Very cool.

Do you know if this was ever featured on the show "Scariest Places on Earth"? I love that show. They send a family into an old haunted castle, sanitorium, prison etc. to spend the night. The have video cameras on their heads and usually have to separate and go do "spirit" tests in certain rooms.

I love stuff like this. I'm an online urban explorer. I find sites like these and try to immerse myself in the environment. Very spooky indeed. It brings to mind Danvers State Hospital (now demolished) from the creepy movie, Session 9. When I mourned the demolition of Danvers I discovered Waverly Hills Sanitarium in Kentucky. Now THAT is a scary place! There is a great documentary on that place called "Spooked". Worth checking out for a few good chills.

Another similar place is in Chillicothe, Ohio where the former state hospital lies in disuse. Which begs the question: why are they just LEFT there? Went there one night with some friends and it was pretty spooky.

I remember that show. I believe it was either on Discovery Channel or The Learning Channel. Anyway they did a segment on The Old West Virginia State Penitentiary which supposedly has a ghost or two. It is located just across the river from me. I've toured it. Very interesting and spooky place. I love these sites that take you inside these old abandoned hospitals, subway tunnels etc.
