I think this is a lesson to all those believers out there to use your head. Just because you feel "convicted," it doesn't mean crap. I feel convicted to shoot people all the time. Do I do it? No, only occasionally and ONLY when no one is watching. Use your head people.

What's the point of risking it? Does the accident prove that God protected him because of the man's great faith? Or was it a warning? "Dumbass. You need insurance. Protect yourself and your family- I can't keep saving you."
As people of Faith, you and I might take it to mean that God protected him because of his faith. But, I'm not entirely sure about that. In fact, I argue that any ambiguity at all is proof that God is just messing with us.

What does god need so much money for anyway? Does he have a massive crack habit? That would explain the legendary mood swings, random violence and egotism anyhoo....

Maybe, just maybe, where this man lives is just a terribly dangerous place to drive.....
Conviction can also be a good thing. A few years ago I was on the road, pulling up to a stoplight, in a lane with one car in front of me. I felt an overwhelming urge to move to the other lane (with three cars) which seemed totally illogical, but after struggling with it for a minute, I thought why not. Not two seconds later a car flew up from behind and crashed into where I would have been. I believe that God convicted me to move to save my life.
Religious language doesn't always translate well into secular language; the word "conviction" is one example of that. It has a secular connotation of guilt that is not necessarily a part of the religious experience.
It always surprises and dismays me that there is so much hostility toward expressions of faith, especially Christianity. Ridiculing other religions is not nearly as socially acceptable. My viewpoint may not be popular, but there it is.

« suckersklub:God's a greedy bastard. I am not sure about the logical value of this statement. It is kind of puzzling. does it implicitly include the assumption that God exists?
In that case, I tend to think it is false,
but on the other hand, the following source supports it:
Revelation of John
(It is my favorite text from the Nag Hammadi Library)

If other religions were as visible trying to convert people and making them believe as they believe in western countries, then some people would be 'hostile' to them also.

Conviction can also be a good thing. A few years ago I was on the road, pulling up to a stoplight... I had a similar experience. My great grandma had this small leather cross that she carried everywhere. she passed wayyy back in '93 at the age of 92. but around 2006 i began takin it w/ me too, everywhere. i lost it, and looked everywhere for it for months. never found it. never told anyone about it at all, not that i even carried it.
almost a year later, i was rushing out for class, late for an exam. i set my wallet on a table in my living room laying face up. i remember cuz i had just put my drivers license in there. i left the room, and came back 2minutes later. the cross was on top of my driver's license. i was like :-0 wtf, lol. i put it in my wallet and left out for class.
i was driving along, rushing to class. i was coming up on a green light. it was green, not about 2 turn yellow or anything. it was the fastest way to my exam (since i was late) to go straight. but something told me, clear as day to get into the left turning lane, and wait there to turn, so i did. the car that was behind me, sped up and continued to go straight. Another car ran the red light coming from the right and smashed into the side of the car that was behind me (that continued to go straight). the accident was 8feet away from the front of my car. The car that ran the red light flipped into the air. While the car that got hit rolled over twice and landed upside down with the other car on top of it. I made the 911 call.
Someone was looking out for me. that would've been me upside down gettin dragged out that car. i wasn't even wearing my seatbelt i dont think.

Other religions proselytize, too. My philosophy: actions speak louder than words. I try to live my beliefs rather than verbalize them. There are many degrees of belief across the spectrum in any religion; individuals should be considered on their own merit. I know what I believe and what works for me, but none of us will know for certain until we pass over.
