my naturopath reccommends I drink half my body weight in ounces of water a day. Needless to say that's more than I normally drink, a lot more.

As an aside: this described condition is called water intoxication.

As long as you are taking vitamins to replace lost minerals and eating enough it takes a hell of a lot of water to cause water intoxication--several gallons a day at least--so I wouldn't be to worried.
This lady was super-diluting her body's mineral balance. She's an idiot for following that advice and doesn't deserve a dime.

The best diet is one that includes a little of everything. Big on fruits and veggies. A little less of carbs and meats, a bit of fat...yes FAT. We need it to keep our skin and hair soft. It also helps aid digestion. YOu just don't needs gobs of it. Portion control. Moderation. Water(6 to 8 glasses--8 ounces) a day. Vitamins. Exercise. I know it. I just need to live it. Any diet that excludes any of these items at all probably isn't a good idea.

I'll agree that she's an idiot. But she went to a doctor for this advice and trusted in their word. Idiots have rights too, Rocco.

Well actually it wasn't a doctor. She went to see someone who calls themselves a 'nutritional therapist and life coach'. I imagine there isn't really much of a license for something like that. Certainly not a doctor.

However I agree that she does have rights and deserves the win.

Lord knows I think that 98% of lawsuits are BS, but what makes this different is that she got sick in a matter of days. Even after telling the person of her reaction, she was told to continue. Her brain injuries occurred days after that.

If she had stuck on this crazy diet for weeks despite the symptoms, then I'd say she didn't deserve a penny. The quickness of the illness didn't really give her time to be sensible (not to mention the illness could have been effecting her mental capacity even then)

I would assume someone who is a "nutritional therapist" would be trained to know that the water is also washing out all the good minerals in your body. So I think there is a big responsibility on her part to inform her clients of that.

I really don't agree that she is an idiot for not knowing this. But I also probably wouldn't keep doing it if it was making me sick, whether I was told it was supposed to happen or not.

I drink quite a lot of water, but If I ever starting vomiting due to it I would certainly not continue on this course, I am sure this condition is pretty easy too avoid if you listen to your bodies obvious warning signs. I still think this stupid woman should win her case though, her lack of intelligence is not her fault.

Hey, I resemble that remark. If we all lived what we know is good for us, this world would be a much better place.
