So why hasn't he been killed?

[I realised I have more to say. I know, I know.]

I do believe that some form of life must exist somewhere in the universe, at least as advanced as us. There must be some form of civilization that is less evolved than us, and then 40,286,322,345,899e light years across the universe is another, far more advanced than we are.
I am fascinated by the Roswell incident; something odd happened there.

But I can't see that aliens visited earth, somewhere, and either happened to fall directly into the lap of the American Government, or else into the hands of an uncivilised society somewhere, who were then exterminated for their knowledge (and no one noticed.). It is too unlikely that one of the amusing sightings were real, but the craft decided to land in Area 51, just for kicks.

If

-I can see live footage in which this guy tells his story instead of a static image of his head from before the day I was born

-I can see a clean bill of health of this guy from a psychiatrist

In the early 90's I was at a high school football game in a small town in Ohio. I seen a few people starting to freak out and looking up in the sky. There were three blue lights going over the stadium really slow, probably only a mile up. Eventually the players stopped the game and were looking at the same phenomena. No one knew what it was and they disappeared just as fast as they had showed up. I truly believe that we are not alone and to hear a top scientist and astronaut confirm it must mean that something serious is going on and it cannot be covered up for much longer...

I really have to wonder if this has anything to do with the X-Files movie coming out. I can honestly see the studio paying this guy several figures for a lark interview.

What would you do if you met face to face with an alien

Interesting question. I would first try to communicate with it with human language - "Do you speak English? Parlez-vous Francais? Sprechen sie Deutsch?"

If that didn't work (which it probably wouldn't), I would try to communicate with math. I would show it that humans use a base 10 system, try to teach it Arabic numerals (That's 1, 2, 3, etc. to you laymen), and show it mathematical sequences. Every prime number from 1 to 97, for example.

Once I had the alien's trust, I would take it somewhere where I could document its appearance with photos or a video camera. Hopefully, I could call more witnesses without scaring it, including a language expert who might be able to communicate with the alien.

Bend over and wait for the probe. That's really why they come here, isn't it?

You know how these things work: not a chance will there be an expert who happens to speak alien right when you come face-to-face with them. Sod's law, y'know.
It's irritating because when you don't need one, like when you're talking to pengins, you can't move for running in to an alien language expert!

Second: If they're still there when I wake up, try to telepathically communicate with them since they probably don't know any of our languages. Also, I stink at math on demand; give me paper and time, I'm ok.
Third: Give them an angel.

What does thinking we're alone in the universe make us? Earthnocentric. What are the chances that we could be alone, given the vastness of the universe? And if we are alone, WHY?
