I shred EVERYTHING! I take old credit cards/other plastic to the office where there is a heavy duty cross-cut shredder.

Yup, I shred them.
I shred anything that has an account number, a verification number and my address on it.

My wife says I am paranoid.

No way. When in doubt, shred it.

I write VOID with a Sharpie, then shed things...

And if I'm feeling really paranoid... like when I cut up an actual credit card, or something like that... I'll throw them away in different garbage cans. A little in the office can, and a little in the kitchen.

Sometimes I also wear an aluminum foil hat... it doesn't help with identity theft, but I'm told the ladies love it.

I thought I was the only one who did that.

I also make sure that the three digit Card Verification Number (CVN) is chopped up, too.
