Meh.

I'd leave if I didn't have family here.

Am I the only one who was hoping this would remain a '1 word post' thread?

this country is freakin awesome. i love America because still after so many years, the possibilities are endless. yes sometimes life sucks but it has to, so that we can truly enjoy when life is good. i couldn't imagine living in any other country.

Sorry you feel that way. But consider this: In this country you have the ability (neh, the obligation) to change things if you think they are wrong. (Yes, 1 person can make a difference.) It could be as simple as voting, or as local as starting a daycare, or helping the homeless, or just being part of the community.

Plus I am willing to bet you might change your view given the chance to get out. I'm just sayin'

What exactly is it about the US that you hate so much? I'm not being facetious either. I am genuinely interested in knowing what could possibly be SO bad.

I work REALLY hard everyday. I cannot afford health care for my family. I am truly scared by the 1984-type government that appears to be evolving. I see injustice every. damn. day. Our kids are dying in countries they should not be in for likely false pretenses.

BUT on top of all that, I still would not want to live elsewhere.

Do not come to Canada, if you want to leave U.S. We will be like your country in..20 years, 10 times less everything

Just had a friend come back from a month in Italy (yeah, I know - must be tough). She said she really appreciates being home (America) so much more now. Some of the things she mentioned: the cost of living, the availability of anything you need, the kindness of people, the choices that are open to everyone... and she had been in Italy, which is a "good" country.

We're not a perfect country, that doesn't exist. But we as individuals have the right and the opportunities to change things.

I've said it before, and once again: You don't like it here, no need to badmouth the place - just leave, please. That's another right you currently have. Just be sure to choose carefully; the next country may not let you come and go as you please.

[edit]My one word:
YES!!

The grass is greener on the other side because it has been watered... you don't like it here - break out the watering can and change things.

The only thing green about the Middle East is all the US oil dollars going there.
